Description
1) Objective
Rooted in the EU founding principles of human dignity, freedom and democracy, RIZA’s main mission is to build capacity of and provide financial support to small-scale grassroots NGOs across the EU to uphold, protect and promote EU values and fundamental rights, focussing on those in most isolated circumstances with least access to resources and opportunities, i.e. migrant and refugee women. With 3 rounds of funding in total (2025, 2026 and 2027), this 1st RIZA call has a regional focus on the Nordic-Baltic states (Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) in which the organisations in the region are particularly encouraged to apply, however, RIZA funding is open to any qualified organisations established in any EU members state.
The call is open to the following organisations, with Tier 1 constituting the priority group among the potential grantees:
- 1st tier: Migrant and/or refugee women led organisations with a human right based mission.
- 2nd tier: Grassroots women’s rights organisations with a stand-alone programme aimed at supporting migrant and/or refugee women.
- 3rd tier: Migrant and/or refugee organisations with a stand-alone programme aimed at supporting migrant and/or refugee women.
- 4th tier: Grassroots human rights organisation with a stand-alone programme aimed at supporting migrant and/or refugee women.
Call’s Priorities:
- Priority 1: Support and Capacity Building of Migrant and Refugee women,
- Priority 2: Advocating for the fundamental rights of migrant and refugee women,
- Priority 3: Promoting the role of migrant and refugee women in democratic dialogue, community cohesion and cross-cultural solidarity
2) Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to NGOs established in an EU Member State; Non-profit, independent of political/religious parties & governments; Minimum 1 year of activities; Annual budget under €300,000; Equal representation of women in governance & leadership; Commitment to EU values & migrant women’s inclusion.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania.
4) Budget
In the first cycle, 33 grants will be awarded, divided as follows: 15 Micro Grants – €17,778 each; 12 Small Grants – €32,778 each; 06 Medium Grants – €60,000 each. Grants are 100% funded (no co-financing required).
5) Application
The application deadline is 31 October 2025. 1) Stage 1: Submission of an online form by 31 October 2025; and 2) Stage 2: Shortlisted candidates are invited to submit full applications between 17 November and 5 December 2025.
