Description
1) Objective
Hosted by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and funded by the Seeding The Future Foundation (STF), the Challenge is intended to recognize and support breakthrough innovations that can spark transformations of our food systems, with a particular focus on addressing critical challenges in the Global South. The Challenge aims to inspire impactful and transforming innovations that reside at the INNOVATION FOCUS AREA in which three domains intersect:
- Innovations leading to safe and nutritious food for a healthy diet
- Innovations leading to sustainable or regenerative practices that enable food systems to stay within planetary boundaries, including food waste and food loss reduction
- Innovations leading to equitable access to food that is affordable, appealing and trusted
2) Eligibility
Applicant organisations: Open to applicants from all countries, with a strong emphasis on innovations serving the global south; Open to scientists, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and multidisciplinary teams; Eligible organisations include NGOs, non-profits, social enterprises, universities, research institutions, and small or emerging for-profit enterprises.
3) Location
They are supporting projects in countries worldwide.
4) Budget
(1) Seed grants (USD 25,000 each): For early innovations showing feasibility with prototypes or initial proof of concept. Must benefit at least one, ideally two, focus domains.; (2) Growth grants (USD 100,000 each): For innovations proven to be doable, with evidence of economic feasibility at scale and high-impact potential. Must benefit at least two, ideally three, domains; (3) Seeding the future grand prizes (USD 250,000 each): For scalable, economically feasible, trusted, high-impact innovations capable of transforming food systems. Must benefit at least two, ideally three, domains.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 15 December 2025.
