Description
1) Objective
Margaret McNamara Education Grants (formerly known as MMMF) is a nonprofit, public charity founded in 1981 that awards education grants to exceptional women from developing countries who are at least 25 years old and enrolled at universities in the United States, Canada, France, and South Africa, and select universities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
It has been working to empower women by supporting their education so that they can build a better world. They are very proud to present our numbers. Grantees have focused on diverse fields of study, including engineering, information technologies, health, science, education, social studies, and law.
2) Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: be a self-identifying woman, and at least 25 years old at time of application deadline; be a national of Latin America; not be related to a World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund, or Inter-American Development Bank staff member, spouse, retiree, or MMEG Board member.
3) Location
Actions must take place in South Africa.
4) Budget
In past years, grants of up to US$15,000 have been awarded in the US-Canada program, up to US$7,000 in the South Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, and Trinity Washington University programs and US$5,000 in the France program.
5) Application
This program accepts applications between May 15 and September 14 (11:59pm Eastern Standard Time) each year. Successful candidates will be personally notified in December.
