Description
1) Objective
The U.S. Embassy Libreville, under the U.S. Department of State, is accepting applications for the Mangroves Rehabilitation Project in Gabon. This project aims to empower local communities in Estuaire province to manage mangrove areas effectively, focusing on conservation and climate change mitigation.
Key objectives include rehabilitating critical mangrove areas through reforestation, initiating an awareness campaign to educate local communities on the ecological benefits of mangrove protection, and collaborating with the Gabonese government, civil society, and local NGOs to draft and adopt legislation for the protection, preservation, and restoration of mangrove ecosystems. The project seeks to address flood prevention and promote environmental sustainability by fostering community involvement and legislative action.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants for this grant include not-for-profit organizations, think tanks, civil society/non-governmental organizations, public and private educational institutions, and public international organizations and governmental institutions.
