Founded in 2009 in Madrid, GAWA Capital promotes social and economic development by building partnerships with non-profit initiatives and industrial players which share their mission – which is to support the growth of social enterprises in under-served markets while seeking financial returns for investors and a positive impact for society. GAWA Capital supports these innovative businesses by harnessing the power of capital markets.
It offers two types of funds: (1) the GAWA Microfinance Fund; and (2) the Global Financial Inclusion Fund. Both funds invest in financial inclusion with the objective of providing a financial return for its investors and a measurable social impact for low-income communities.
2) Eligibility
Eligible for investment funding are any type of organisations that have social impact as their core mandate in their mission and primarily operate in under-served and low income markets.
3) Location
The funds have built a portfolio of 10 investments in Latin America, Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
