Description
1) Objective
Founded in 1982, the Newman’s Own Foundation was set up in the memory of Paul Newman and is committed to incorporating Paul’s spirit, values, and personal style into our work. Historically, Paul Newman donated to a very broad class of charities in education, the environment, health, human services, community development, international causes, emergency campaigns, and arts and culture.
The Foundation has three programmatic focus areas:
- Joyful Experiences for Children with Serious Illnesses: SeriousFun Children’s Network empowers children with serious illnesses and their families to reimagine what is possible by creating inclusive camp and recreational experiences, inspiring confidence and joy, and building community and connection.
- Nutrition Education and School Food: They support programming and advocacy, and seek policy changes to make nutrition education and healthier school meals available to all children regardless of their ability to pay.
- Indigenous Food Justice: They seek to aid in revitalizing and preserving their long-established approaches and supporting their innovative ideas.
2) Eligibility
Eligible are 501(c)3 public charities or the international equivalent.
3) Location
Newman’s Own Foundation primarily supports organizations in the U.S.; however, the Foundation does provide some grants to organizations headquartered in countries around the world, in addition to nonprofits in the U.S. that operate abroad.
4) Budget
The Foundation awards grants of varying sizes depending on the specific project being funded. The total annual funding volume is around $26,000,000. Grants tend to range from $5,000-$100,000.
5) Application
Every year, the Foundation opens opportunities to apply or to nominate organizations for grants. Please sign up for Radically Good™ News on their website to be the first to hear about new funding opportunities. Applications and nominations are usually opened up in the first quarter of the year.
