Description
1) Objective
The global objective of this call for proposals is: increased solid evidence for policy decisions on school meals. The specific objective(s) of this call for proposals is: quantify the effects of home grown school meals on targeted students and communities on indicators of interest.
The priority of this call for proposals is to conduct a randomized control trial to quantify the effects of Tsolata II interventions on three main domains of interest. The first are children’s nutritional outcomes, the second children’s learning outcomes, and the third income and welfare effects on surrounding smallholder farmers from whom the food to prepare the meals will be sourced.
2) Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must: (1) be a legal person and (2) be non-profit-making and (3) be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, public sector operator, local authority, international (inter-governmental) organisation as defined by Article 156 of the EU Financial Regulation and (4) be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Malawi, tentatively in the following districts: Mzimba, NkhataBay, and Rumphi. The location will need to be confirmed with the contracting authority and the Ministry of Education before start of activities.
4) Budget
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €1,500,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum €1,200,000 and maximum €1,500,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum (80%) and maximum (95%) percentage of total eligible costs of the action. The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 40 months nor exceed 48 months.
